How long does it take to become a licensed Massage Therapist?
I'm interested in going to school to become a Massage Therapist (in the US). Is it a two year or a four year program?

- It is generally a two year program to learn the basics, I would suggest that you go for the four year program to learn all the different styles of massage, when you graduate you will have More desirable skills and will find a job much faster and easier than one who only has two years of experience. I have done Massage Therapy for several years now with Cancer and AIDS Pt's and knowing all the technics will help you help your patients. Peace
- It usually takes 2 year st for the basic program, and an extra 2-4 years with special training . you also gotto finish college.the average is 3 years for the average american to get a job as proffesional.
- In Indiana it is less than a year for school to become a licensed Massage Therapist. Of course, quite a bit depends upon your state's requirements for schooling, but I don't know of any that is required for 2 or 4 years. check out these sites: http://www.abmp.com/home/index.html - this is the best site for industry-required liability insurance. It also requires continuing education, which is a good thing. http://www.massagetherapy.com/careers/index.php
